Bentley Motors has taken a decisive step in decarbonising its global logistics operations, announcing that it will now use 100 per cent Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for all customer car airfreight movements worldwide. The commitment, effective immediately, marks a significant development in the marque’s wider environmental strategy and reinforces its ambition to reduce emissions across its entire value chain.
Headquartered in Crewe, Bentley has positioned this move as part of a broader transformation under its Beyond100+ strategy — a long-term roadmap that places sustainability at the centre of the brand’s future. While airfreight represents only a carefully controlled and limited component of Bentley’s logistics network, it remains essential in certain customer-requested or time-critical scenarios. By transitioning these movements to SAF, Bentley aims to significantly lower the environmental impact of necessary air transport.
Air transport traditionally carries a far higher carbon footprint than sea freight. Sustainable Aviation Fuel, however, offers a certified alternative to conventional jet fuel. Produced from renewable or waste-based feedstocks and certified under ISCC standards, SAF can be used in existing aircraft and airport infrastructure without modification. Depending on raw materials and production pathways, SAF has been shown to reduce lifecycle CO₂e emissions by up to 70–95 per cent compared to conventional fossil-based jet fuel.

Aimee Kelly, Head of Sustainability at Bentley Motors, described the initiative as a measurable and evidence-based step within the company’s decarbonisation strategy. By integrating independently verified SAF into its airfreight operations, Bentley is targeting meaningful reductions in lifecycle emissions while maintaining the service standards expected by its global clientele.
Since introducing SAF into customer vehicle shipments, Bentley has already completed airfreight movements using the fuel, achieving substantial well-to-wheel CO₂e reductions. The current rollout covers all customer car airfreight globally, with early exploration underway to potentially expand SAF usage across additional logistics routes where aviation remains necessary.
This development represents a significant milestone in Bentley’s efforts to decarbonise its end-to-end supply chain. Under the Beyond100+ programme, the company has committed to redefining sustainable luxury mobility — combining low-carbon innovation with craftsmanship and performance. The strategy outlines Bentley’s ambition to transition towards a fully electric future, while embedding responsible practices across manufacturing, materials, fuels and distribution.
Founded in 1919 by W.O. Bentley, the company has evolved into one of the world’s most recognisable luxury automotive marques. Since becoming part of the Volkswagen Group in 1998, Bentley has continued to design, engineer and handcraft its model range in the UK, blending heritage craftsmanship with advanced engineering.
By committing to 100 per cent Sustainable Aviation Fuel for customer airfreight, Bentley Motors is reinforcing its position not only as a leader in performance luxury, but as a brand actively reshaping the environmental footprint of high-end mobility.
