AYA, ASTON MARTIN & F.P JOURNE

As Aya finalized her Vanquish, the rare F.P. Journe Vagabondage I on her wrist echoed the car’s spirit — quiet, complex, and deeply personal.

Thanks to a car-loving father, Aya’s admiration for Aston Martin started in childhood. She vividly recalls cutting out photos from magazines and decorating her room — an early, tender form of devotion. Years of anticipation followed before she could finally hold the keys to her own black DB9 Volante.

The moment was deeply emotional. Tears of joy marked the arrival of that first Aston, a milestone symbolizing patience and passion realized. The powerful growl of its engine wasn’t just a sound; it was the affirmation of a dream coming true.

Aya’s collection evolved with the times. In 2012, she upgraded to a DBS Coupé in the iconic Quantum Silver—the very shade immortalized by James Bond. This car remains a cherished staple in her garage, a tangible piece of cinematic heritage.

By 2021, practicality entered the picture with the addition of a DBX in Bowmore Blue, blending luxury with family travel needs. Yet, the emotional core never wavered.

The unveiling of the new Vanquish in 2023 marked a pivotal moment for Aya. With its seamless blend of heritage and innovation, the model reignited a lifelong admiration for the marque.

“When I saw the design, I just knew it was time,” she reflects. “I wanted to choose what might be my last Aston Martin—not because the brand will stop producing great cars, but because I wanted to settle on one I could truly keep and enjoy for the long run.”

Configuring the Vanquish became an act of devotion. Aya spent months carefully selecting every detail: from the precise stitch lines to the trim materials, the brake caliper colors, and the grain of the leather. Each decision felt like a brushstroke on a personal canvas.

“It took a while to finalize the specs, but I’m thrilled with how everything turned out,” Aya shares. “Our Vanquish is finally configured, and I can’t wait for delivery next year.”

Aya’s pursuit of detail doesn’t end in the garage. It extends to her wrist, where another story of precision unfolds. During the finalization of the configuration of her Vanquish, she wore the F.P. Journe Vagabondage I—a timepiece as distinct and deliberate as the car she was shaping.

Originally released in 2004 through a silent auction and limited to just 69 pieces in platinum, the Vagabondage I remains one of F.P. Journe’s most elusive creations. Its wandering digital hours, set within a sculptural tonneau case, quietly challenge the conventions of traditional watchmaking—while still offering the kind of quiet artistry that defines the brand.

In Aya’s world, the Vanquish and the Vagabondage I are kindred objects—quietly confident, rich in meaning, and designed for those who take the time to understand.
