The France SailGP Team has delivered one of the most memorable performances of the 2025 season, clinching victory at the inaugural Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz on August 17, 2025. Under the leadership of helmsman Quentin Delapierre, the French team overcame extraordinary challenges to secure their first event win.
Â
The drama began during practice when the team’s F50 catamaran sustained significant damage, leaving Delapierre hospitalized. Many expected France to struggle in the race, but the team’s resilience and determination shone through. Working tirelessly overnight, the crew repaired their vessel and returned to the competition stronger than ever.

In a thrilling final, France went head-to-head with formidable opponents Australia and Great Britain. With expert sailing, precision maneuvers, and unwavering focus, France emerged victorious, much to the delight of fans and sailing enthusiasts worldwide.

This victory has propelled France to fifth place in the overall SailGP standings, with 47 points, while Australia and New Zealand lead the championship with 61 points each.

Looking ahead, France will aim to build on this momentum at the next event scheduled for September 12–13, 2025, in Saint-Tropez, France. If their Sassnitz performance is any indication, the French team is poised for more excitement and success in the championship.
