The Laurent Ferrier Classic Auto Horizon, unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2025, marks a significant evolution in the brand’s Classic collection. Transitioning from a limited-edition Série Atelier piece to a permanent fixture, this timepiece embodies a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.
A Dial Inspired by the Horizon
At the heart of the Classic Auto Horizon is its captivating horizon-blue dial. This dial features a vertically satin-brushed center and a circular-brushed minute track, both enhanced by a translucent blue lacquer over a silver galvanic base. The result is a dynamic play of light and depth, evoking the serene expanse of the sky. White gold Assegai-shaped hands and drop-shaped indices add a touch of elegance, while the crosshair motif provides a subtle nod to classic watch design.
The 40mm stainless steel case retains Laurent Ferrier’s signature pebble-like silhouette, inspired by 19th-century pocket watches. With a thickness of 11.94mm, the case offers a balanced presence on the wrist. A domed sapphire crystal and a ball-shaped crown enhance its vintage appeal, while the exhibition caseback reveals the meticulously finished movement within.
The LF270.01 Caliber
Powering the Classic Auto Horizon is the LF270.01 caliber, an automatic movement featuring a 950 platinum micro-rotor. Originally developed for the Sport Auto model, this movement combines the elegance of Laurent Ferrier’s micro-rotor architecture with enhanced durability. It boasts a 72-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 4Hz. The movement’s finishing includes rhodium-plated Côtes de Genève bridges, mirror-polished bevels, and a hand-engraved rotor inspired by bird feathers.
Thoughtful Details
A notable feature is the date aperture at 3 o’clock, designed with a sloped frame that guides the eye naturally. The date disc displays slate grey numerals on a white background, ensuring legibility without disrupting the dial’s harmony. The small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock is finely snailed, adding texture and depth.
Complementing the watch is a taupe goat leather strap with a tone-on-tone Alcantara lining, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle. This combination ensures both comfort and style, making the Classic Auto Horizon suitable for daily wear.
The Laurent Ferrier Classic Auto Horizon is now part of the brand’s permanent collection, priced at CHF 45,000 (excluding taxes). For more information, visit Laurent Ferrier’s official website.
