Space and time move architecture.
Álvaro Siza
At 89, Pritzker Prize-winning architect Álvaro Siza has added one more quiet masterpiece to his legacy: a watch. But not just any watch. The Lebond Siza is a meditation in titanium, a timepiece that carries Siza’s poetic modernism not just as inspiration, but as material fact. Time, here, is sculpted like concrete, measured like light, and worn like memory.
The watch is part of an ongoing concept by Lebond, a Barcelona-based watch publisher founded by architect Asier Mateo. Each edition—referred to as a “volume”—invites a world-renowned architect to translate their visual language into horology. Few names carry as much weight, or restraint, as Siza. The results are unsurprisingly subtle, but astonishingly intentional.

The shape of the case is a tribute to the Leça Swimming Pools, a project Siza designed at just 28 years old in 1966. The square footprint of the main pool guided the watch’s form, while the minimalist hands are drawn from his stylized restroom signage, used across multiple projects. Every decision speaks softly, but precisely.

Made from Grade 5 titanium, the case is micro-sanded to a muted matte finish and treated with an anti-fingerprint coating—Siza’s personal material choice. Lightweight and quietly luxurious, it complements the clean geometry with surprising comfort. The matte black FKM rubber strap, paired with a titanium deployant clasp, brings tactile depth without distraction.

Inside beats a Swiss-made ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement, deliberately modified to omit the seconds hand and date. It’s an architectural choice: restraint over utility. The dial, hands, and crystal are all double-coated for clarity and durability. And at the back, the exposed movement is framed by Álvaro Siza’s signature, elegantly floating across the sapphire caseback.
Even the dimensions feel intentional. The 8.8mm thickness and 41.5mm square form rest flatly on the wrist, while the 49.5mm lug-to-lug length gives presence without volume. Every millimeter is in dialogue with Siza’s architectural sensibility—where form and emptiness are always in balance.
There already exist many beautiful round watches. I want to create something different.
Álvaro Siza
And different it is. The Lebond Siza doesn’t aim for loud luxury or market saturation. It’s not a collector’s watch in the traditional sense—though its limited production makes it certainly collectible. Instead, it’s a wearable reflection of one of architecture’s greatest minds, channeled into one of design’s most intimate objects.

Siza calls it “my Sunday watch.” It feels like that—a moment of quiet intention at the edge of the week. But it’s also much more: an object where architecture, time, and tactility meet, in pure proportion.
