boot Düsseldorf 2026 opened on 17 January at 10:00 a.m. with a striking laser show above the XXL surf pool, marking the official start of the international water sports season. Now in its 57th edition, the world’s largest water sports trade fair once again positions Düsseldorf at the centre of the global boating and maritime landscape, welcoming industry leaders, professionals, athletes, and enthusiasts from around the world until 25 January.
In his opening address, Düsseldorf’s Lord Mayor Dr Stephan Keller highlighted the city’s strong connection to water through its location on the Rhine and recreational areas such as Unterbacher See, underlining why Düsseldorf remains a natural host for the event. Messe Düsseldorf Managing Director Marius Berlemann emphasised boot’s legacy of courage and vision since 1969, describing the fair as a key innovation driver and the traditional starting signal for the new water sports season.
State Secretary Christian Hirte pointed to Germany’s appeal as a boating nation, referencing its approximately 10,000 kilometres of federal waterways available for leisure cruising. Trade fair President Robert Marx highlighted the importance of international cooperation within the maritime industry and, quoting philosopher Karl Popper, stressed that optimism remains essential in shaping the sector’s future.

Across the exhibition halls, this confidence is reflected in fully booked motorboat and motor yacht displays that read like a who’s who of the global industry. Hall 5 stands out with its luxury marina, superyachts, and a concentrated showcase of superboats, tenders, and chase boats, while Hall 1 presents leading international brands in the medium-sized motor yacht segment.
Beyond the vessels, boot Düsseldorf distinguishes itself through its extensive programme of seminars and live demonstrations. Highlights include practical training for long-distance sailors, engine workshops led by mechanical engineer Dr Robert Möckel, diving demonstrations by the German Navy, and underwater mobility showcases featuring SUEX underwater scooters. High-profile athletes also contribute to the programme, including 42-time windsurfing world champion Bjørn Dunkerbeck, who appears at boot 2026 with beginner surf simulator sessions in Hall 17.
More than a trade fair, boot Düsseldorf 2026 serves as a platform where innovation, expertise, and inspiration converge, reinforcing its role as a defining moment in the global water sports calendar.
