White Turf returns to St. Moritz in February 2026, continuing one of Switzerland’s most distinctive sporting traditions. Staged on the frozen surface of Lake St. Moritz, the event combines top-level horse racing with alpine spectacle, social culture, and over a century of history.
First held in 1907, White Turf has evolved into an internationally recognised winter racing festival, attracting owners, jockeys, trainers, and spectators from across Europe and beyond. Few sporting events can match its setting: a natural ice track surrounded by the Engadin mountains.
White Turf 2026 will take place across three Sundays — 8, 15, and 22 February 2026 — with racing and entertainment unfolding directly on the frozen lake. The event is organised by Rennverein St. Moritz and remains one of the highlights of the Alpine winter calendar.

The race programme features a combination of flat races, trotting races, and the legendary Skikjöring discipline, where skiers are pulled at speed behind galloping horses across the ice. Skikjöring remains a defining element of White Turf and is rarely seen elsewhere in the world at this competitive level.
Across the three race days, the schedule includes several prestigious fixtures, culminating in headline races such as the Grand Prix of St. Moritz, traditionally held on the final Sunday. These races draw elite competitors and significant international attention, reinforcing White Turf’s reputation as more than a novelty — it is a serious sporting event staged in extraordinary conditions.
In addition to racing Sundays, White Turf 2026 also includes Family Days on the preceding Saturdays — 7, 14, and 21 February. These days offer free entry and a programme designed for families and younger visitors, including pony rides, demonstrations, guided insights into the sport, and winter activities on the lake.

Beyond the track, White Turf is equally known for its social and cultural atmosphere. Temporary hospitality structures and viewing areas transform the frozen lake into a seasonal meeting point for sport, fashion, dining, and live entertainment, reflecting St. Moritz’s long-standing reputation as a winter destination for international travellers.
Each year, the event welcomes tens of thousands of visitors, blending sporting heritage with modern alpine lifestyle. The combination of natural ice racing, precision organisation, and a spectacular setting continues to define White Turf as a uniquely Swiss experience.
As White Turf approaches its 119th edition in 2026, the event remains a rare intersection of tradition and innovation — where elite horse racing meets winter sport culture on one of the world’s most remarkable natural stages.
