In a decisive opening to 2026, Heesen Yachts confirms the sale of its latest 55-metre steel motor yacht, Project Frida (YN 21055). The announcement signals continued market confidence in the Dutch shipyard’s proven engineering platforms—particularly within its highly regarded 55-metre series.

Acquired by a private client, the vessel’s appeal lies not only in its Northern European build pedigree but also in the strategic advantage of a shortened delivery timeline—an increasingly rare offering in the current superyacht landscape.

Project Frida is built on Heesen’s Ultra Efficient Steel Hull, a foundation engineered for long-range cruising while maintaining optimal fuel efficiency. At 55 metres in length and approximately 760 gross tonnes, the yacht strikes a precise balance between internal volume and navigational versatility.

This scale allows for both expansive onboard living and access to smaller Mediterranean ports—an essential consideration for owners seeking both presence and flexibility. Accommodation is configured for 12 guests across six staterooms, aligning with the expectations of modern private ownership.

The yacht’s exterior has been developed by Omega Architects, maintaining the studio’s signature clean and contemporary lines. Inside, Luca Dini Design and Architecture leads the interior vision, with architect Silvia Margutti working closely alongside Heesen’s in-house engineering team.

The design direction introduces a modern interpretation of maritime tradition. Dark woods contrast against lighter tones, creating a layered aesthetic that feels both grounded and current. Select areas onboard have been intentionally conceived to house a curated contemporary art collection—positioning art not as an addition, but as an integral component of the spatial identity.

With interior customisation progressing, Project Frida is set to enter sea trials in the North Sea. These trials will rigorously test performance, systems integration, and onboard comfort—core benchmarks within Heesen’s build philosophy.

Completion of this phase will lead directly into delivery, scheduled ahead of the summer cruising season. The yacht is intended strictly for private use.

For Heesen, the sale of Project Frida represents more than a single transaction—it reflects sustained demand for technically advanced, semi-custom platforms that offer both immediacy and pedigree.

As CEO Jeroen van der Meer notes, the project embodies a synthesis of Dutch engineering precision and refined design sensibility. In a market where timelines are extending and build slots tightening, Project Frida stands as a timely and strategic success.
