McLaren has officially entered the golf industry with the launch of McLaren Golf, unveiling its debut irons: the Series 1 and Series 3. Announced on April 29, 2026, the move extends McLaren’s high-performance engineering philosophy beyond motorsport and automotive design into elite golf equipment.

At the centre of the launch is a clear idea: remove traditional constraints and rethink how golf clubs are built. McLaren Golf’s approach leans heavily on advanced engineering processes, most notably Metal Injection Molding (MIM), a manufacturing method rarely used in golf at scale. This allows for precise control over material structure, weight distribution, and internal geometry, giving engineers far greater freedom to design performance into every part of the club.

The Series 1 irons are positioned as a modern Tour blade, designed for elite players who demand control and precision. While visually compact and traditional at address, the internal construction tells a different story. Tungsten weighting, proprietary metal blends, and McLaren’s “Structural Mesh” design work together to improve stability and consistency without sacrificing workability. Developed with input from Tour players including Justin Rose, the Series 1 aims to deliver forged-like feel while introducing a level of forgiveness not typically associated with blades.

The Series 3 irons target the players’ distance category, focusing on speed, stability, and playability. Carbon fibre elements, advanced internal weighting, and the same Structural Mesh system are used to optimise energy transfer and improve forgiveness. A distinctive carbon fibre rear section also reflects McLaren’s automotive DNA, while contributing to vibration control and overall feel. The sole design has been engineered to improve turf interaction and maintain clubhead speed through impact, even on off-centre strikes.

Both models reflect McLaren’s broader design philosophy: every gram and every structural decision is intentional. As Neil Howie, CEO of McLaren Golf, explained, the development process challenged every conventional assumption in iron design, prioritising performance through precision engineering.

McLaren Golf is backed by a high-profile team of athlete-investors including Justin Rose, Michelle Wie West, and Ian Poulter, all of whom have been closely involved in testing and development. Rose in particular has played a key role over the past two years, helping refine prototypes ahead of launch.

The official rollout begins in North America, Europe, and South Korea through select fitting retailers, alongside online availability in North America via mclarengolf.com. Pricing is set at $375 USD / £360 GBP per club.

Launching in Miami alongside both the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix and a PGA Tour event, McLaren is clearly positioning Golf not as a side project, but as a serious extension of its performance identity — blending motorsport-level engineering with the demands of elite golf.
