Miyu Yamashita has successfully defended her Maybank Championship title, becoming the first player to win the tournament in consecutive years following a composed final-round performance at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
The Japanese golfer closed with a four-under-par 68 on Sunday to finish the tournament at 22-under-par 266, securing a two-shot victory over China’s Yan Liu, who also carded a final-round 68 to finish at 20-under.
Beginning the final round with a two-stroke advantage, Yamashita maintained her position at the top of the leaderboard throughout the closing day. Five birdies, at the third, fifth, eighth, 11th and 18th holes, helped sustain her advantage, with her only dropped shot coming at the ninth.

Liu, who had produced an impressive nine-under-par 63 in Saturday’s third round to move into contention, continued to challenge the defending champion. However, her final-round effort was not enough to close the gap, leaving Yamashita to secure the title by two strokes.
Thailand’s amateur Marisa Tojai and France’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard shared third place at 19-under-par. Tojai signed off with a five-under 67, while Roussin-Bouchard completed her week with a three-under 69.
Australia’s Robyn Choi finished fifth at 17-under-par, followed by Thailand’s Achiraya Sriwong at 16-under.
For Yamashita, the victory marks another significant achievement in a season that continues to establish her among the leading players in women’s golf. Her successful title defence also adds a new chapter to the Maybank Championship, with the Japanese star now its first back-to-back champion.
The 2026 edition concludes with Yamashita once again lifting the trophy in Kuala Lumpur, having delivered across all four rounds to retain her place at the top of the tournament.
